Welcome to the new (and hopefully improved) Cthulhu Cult!
First off, welcome to the new site for our CoC game. I've been testing this forum service out for a few weeks now to make sure it would be a reliable place to move to and so far I have not experienced any of the problems we were encountering over at the old site.
So, you may ask, what happened to your grand plan to host the site yourself? Well, expense was one factor. Though paying for a domain name and a years worth of hosting isn't wallet breaking, it's an expense I can't justify right now. Second, I am not a techie and don't have the time to worry with the tech side of setting up my own phpbb, even though I have solid tech help standing by (thanks Rae!). Bottom line for me, this site appears stable and functional and I'm happy to roll with it for now to keep the game going. Of course, if this site starts going all soup-sandwich on us I'll probably be singing a different tune.
I hate to move sites mid-scenario, but can't think of a good enough reason why not to. Since we're in a break in the story line (this would be where if we were around a table we'd get more chips and salsa and make a beer run) I figured we could make the jump between the end of the Wenton house scene and when everyone is reunited. Hope you guys don't mind too much.
I've opted to go with a simple theme, or skin, for the site, rather than the all black one on the old site. This was partly due to most of the fancy themes that the host offers suck. I decided to just keep it easy on the eyes and go with a neutral theme. Hope you guys like it. One benefit, it seems at least to me, is it seems to load faster.
Go ahead and copy over your investigator sheets and any bios you've written. Both the sheets and the bios will go in the Investigators forum. Once everyone's sheets are copied over, I'll sticky them so they'll be set to the top of the forum.
Once everyone gets signed in here and gets their sheets copied over, I'll kick off the next leg of our scenario. It looks to be a promising, and most terrifying, time.
