St. Mary's Hospital ~ Room 13

Callahan, you along with Filip have seen the attacker of the old man and Filip has seen Wenton up close. Since you and Hammerstein checked out the Panther Club earlier today, you might be able to spot something different or out of the ordinary better than the others and I suggest you take Filip along with you and perhaps Jelinek. Spencer and I are proficient with firearms, I've seen the attacker of the old man and we've both seen Wenton. Along with Valentine and Jeter, we could stake out the bus station."

Joe thought for a bit then glanced out the door "I'd like to keep an eye on the kid if possible, I don't reckon he's seen much in the way of shooting." he looked over at Jelinek and Jeter as they left "You boys seen much of the line?"

He pulled out his watch "We should have a bit of time to get things ready. Wenton might be rattled but he seems to prefer the night for his attacks. I doubt he'll change that?" he looked over at Conrad as he finished.

Conrad nodded in agreement. "We can't be sure of Wenton's motives at this time, be they the result of halucenogenics, the paranormal, or psychosis...however the map suggests his murders are premeditated and follow a pattern. We must assume that there is a logic and purpose behind them...at least in Wenton's mind. And I would venture to guess that moving his murders to another town would require him to start over."

"The killings on the map so far appear to be following the map counter clockwise, so I would agree that the bus station is the most logical next target. I also agree that due to our rather large numbers we should split up into two groups, however I believe the bus station is large enough for both groups to keep a look out and remain inconspicuous." Tapping his hip he smiles, "and I do not believe that lack of fire power will be an issue for our group, particularly if Wenton is bringing a knife to a gun fight."

Conrad pauses a moment and looks to see where Artemis was take to, "Can one of you professors tell me, if we were to draw a line connecting all the marks on the map if it forms any recognizable symbol? Perhaps something connecting it to the dagger, Egyptian Hieroglyphics, or the Aztec tribe? Off hand I cannot connect it to anything from the occult, but I cannot help but feel there must be a significance to the shape."

"Fine, let's swap out Valentine and Jelinek between the two teams," agreed Moriarity. "I remind everyone that Wenton does have a pistol, he shot Spencer here with one. His sanity is clearly in question in that he did not fire at me even after I shot him in his house," he looked at the map as well but the half-moon shape the connected dots made seemed not to bring anything to his own thoughts but he tried to think on what was asked regardless.

A nurse poked her head into the room and gave Moriarity and Lowry a quick look, while waving the smokey haze from her face, "You gentlemen are free to go now. The billing office has the information it needs to settle with the appropriate party. Be sure to keep your bandages clean and if you have any concerns, you may see the doctor tomorrow." Again, she waved away the smoke and then turned to leave the men.

Jelinek nodded at Callahan and replied, "I went through basic training for the army before I served as chaplain. I'm not sure how good of a shot I am with a pistol, but I know which end to point at the enemy. Beyond that, I make no promises."

Turning to Dr. Moriarty, Jelinek asked, "Have you anything which we could use to subdue Wenton if we run into him? From your description I gather he will not come willingly. Perhaps we could have some ether prepared to make him a bit more docile?"

Conrad, remembering it was after seven when he arrived glances down at his pocket watch before looking up and adressing the group. "It's already getting late, and I don't know about you guys, but I need to get something to eat before our stakeout. I suggest we wrap things up here. If no one objects we can meet at the Misatonic Diner, about a block from here, in forty minutes and then head on to the train station."

Moriarity puzzled over the map for a bit and then made a few comments: "An alter perhaps? A threshold? I'm not sure sure but I think there is something forming here. Perhaps Wenton believes completing this circle of death will open a portal for some entity. Perhaps this Azathoth creature?" That was the most he could make of it but he became very interested in Jelinek's suggestion.

"Hm, chloroform acts a bit more quickly than ether which we'd have to hold him down for some time to avoid an overdose. It's a standard anesthetic in most hospitals as well so let me talk with Lindahl," he nodded. Finding Lindahl, he lets him know that they have a madman out on the loose that they suspect is performing these killings. He asks for 2 strait jackets with wrist and ankle restraints and two bottles of chloroform. Finding everything he needs, he heads out with the others and decides he should replace his weapon as soon as possible.

I'm going to cut the diner scene, we'll assume everyone went for a bite to eat. I need to know who is going with who and to where, so if we're splitting up into teams, who is on which team and what is the destination?

Moriarity gets the chloroform, but not the straight jackets. I'm sure Callahan and Hammerstein have some handcuffs in their possession though. Give me a break down on the party and locations and I'll begin the stakeout scene next.

After grabbing a quick bite to eat Spencer invited Moriarity, Jeter and Jelinek to his car to head over to the bus station. Getting his camera from the truck and reloading his firearm he felt as ready as he could.

Am I missing a post somewhere? The only post I have seen about the Panther Club is from Duke, without a reason to go to that location. I don't have a problem going there if there is a reason to suspect someone or something there, however if our only lead suggests the bus station I believe that location or one of the other green 'X' would make more sense. I re-read the posts and just want to make sure I am not missing anything before I post in character.

He shifted his finger across the map to another cross "The bus station, far side of the river. Wenton appears to be working across the town. If it holds then he'll be over here at some point soon." Joe leant back against the wall "I reckon I can call in some friends to keep an eye on the panther club if we need to. Frees us for the station. Less anyone wants to watch the club while I get some boys on the station?"

I agree that the bus station is next most logical but that's where I got it from. Feel free to disagree.

Joe headed over to the police station after dropping people off. He needed to file a brief report with the locals about the Wenton house and arrange for maybe one or two more boys to be on patrol near the stake out joints. Not many though, he didn't want to scare Wenton.
He also checked an additional pistol out, Filip still had his spare and Joe always liked having a bit extra security. The docs idea about the chloroform was nice, but holding an armed man down who'd flipped? Joe shook his head, guess they'd see.

Just before he left for the diner he picked up the phone and put a quick call through to the Panther Club. "Hey, It's Agent Callahan. .... Yeah. .... I'll be out near your joint tonight, figure our main suspect might be hanging round there again. ....... No, I don't think he's after any of your boys but if ya hear shots clam the place up. ..... Right, right. See ya"

Moriarity had enjoyed a solid meal after what seemed like a day of fasting. He was glad to fill his belly with some coffee and a sandwich. Getting into Spencer's car, he checked the bottle of chloroform. He didn't want it to spill in the car. He took a moment to show the other team how to use it and a very strong warning on making sure that they were in a well ventilated area if they were going to put it onto a cloth of some kind. The fumes at high concentration applied directly to the nostrils and mouth would render unconsciousness quickly but there was obviously the risk of exposure dulling senses.

"We need some sort of signal if we need the other team to come quickly. Let's use the phones at the bus station and the Panther Club," he suggested. "If something happens, let's try and call the other side and have someone paged. You can have me paged if you like from our group."
